for the fellas:

tips from the distilled man

A friend recently tipped me off to a great resource for the men in our lives: The Distilled Man. While I am always on the lookout for ideas and trends that might appeal to my brides and couples, I have yet to highlight a brand geared toward just the gentlemen.  With approachable and comprehensive articles, The Distilled Man tackles everything from grilling and cocktails to relationships and "manly know-how." It also covers topics of wedding etiquette, like, "How to Give a Proper Toast."

I have to agree with The Distilled Man that in the art of toasting preparation is key. Especially with wedding toasts and speeches, it is an occasion to remember, with more of a chance of stage fright, jitters, or pure adrenaline. Practicing the toast (which includes your words and gestures, volume and eye contact) will definitely make you more comfortable, so you might venture off-script if you're really vibing with the audience. But, as The Distilled Man also points out, the toast is not your time to perform: keep it about the guests of honor and the momentuous occasion. If you follow his thoughtful tips, you are more than likely to garner laughs and tears and a spirited "Cheers!."
